Monday, July 8 – Sunday, July 21
Optional Second Week Available
9 AM – 4 PM
Boys and Girls, Grade 9-12 and Ages 14-18
Cost: $175/camper for just the first week; $300 for both weeks
In this immersive service-learning experience, participants will explore social issues affecting the Indianapolis community and plan at least one direct local service project with an organization(s) addressing those issues – and that is the first week!
During the second week of activities, participants will journey to another city and be immersed in a cultural experience where they will not only learn about the history of that city, but will be exposed to social issues affecting the communities in that city as well. During their time in another city, participants will complete a collaborative research project where they will compare and contrast issues in Indianapolis to the city they are serving.
Participants will gain awareness of differences between people and recognize the value of serving the community at large; proactively crate positive social interactions between peers through mentoring and relationship building; gain more self-confidence and a better self-image; and learn techniques to be more empathetic and tolerant of others.
This summer camp is a collaboration between the University of Indianapolis and ProAct Indy.
The University of Indianapolis has decided, in the best interest of the University and our community, to cancel all summer camps and conferences for the months of May, June, July and August.
